Wait List FAQ

What does it mean to be on the wait list?

Though we do not have immediate openings, we now have your contact information and will reach out when an intake becomes available. We make calls and schedule appointments on a “first come, first serve” basis.

How long might I be on the wait list?

It depends on the number of people on the list and clinician availability. We wish that we could be more specific. We offer intakes only when the provider has the capacity to see the client consistently either weekly or biweekly. Please feel free to call our administrative staff for updates or to ask additional questions.

What if I am in crisis and cannot wait?

We want to make sure you get the help you need, when you need it. If you are concerned about the safety of either yourself or someone you love, please contact the Washington County Crisis Line at (503) 291-9111 for immediate support. If your situation has changed since you last spoke to us or if you have safety concerns you have not shared with us, please call our administrative staff at (503) 444-8230. They will work with you to identify more immediate resources. You can also go to the Hawthorne Walk-In Center in Hillsboro for a same-day appointment. They can be reached at (503) 846-4555.

What is an intake session?

Our main goal during an intake is to determine the best course of action for you. We will identify your needs and whether NCA can effectively serve you. If we are not the best fit, we will work with you to identify and access the right services and providers.

Can we get evening appointments?

We understand why after school appointments are desirable to families and we do our best to accommodate. Although initially you may be offered a daytime appointment, your provider will work with you to move into those later spaces as they become available.

Do schools work with daytime appointments?

Yes. Schools understand that students need to be doing well socially and emotionally as well as academically. Our administrative staff are happy to provide a note for the school’s attendance office and providers will work with you to try and find a time that is least impactful to your child’s school schedule.
