“Be an encourager: When you encourage others, you boost their self-esteem, enhance their self-confidence, make them work harder, lift their spirits and make them successful in their endeavors. Encouragement goes straight to the heart and is always available.”

FAQs

What is your experience with children and teens?

During my pre-degree clinical internship, I worked at Yamhill County Family and Youth Services in McMinnville, OR where I had the chance to work with a wide range of clients from 8-17 years of age. I worked both with individuals and with their families/caregivers to develop skills and strategies to support the child’s needs.

I also have experience working as a Precision Teacher with Fit Learning in Lake Oswego, OR. Here I had the opportunity to use applied behavior analysis to allow children ages 10-17 to thrive in an academic setting. This involved using a bottom-up approach to academic success as well as using fun and exciting reinforcers to help those children gain confidence in themselves.

What can I expect if I come to see you?

My approach to therapy is child-centered, meaning I provide a space for my clients to be their authentic selves without judgement. I utilize play therapy, art therapy, and strengths-based interventions with my clients. I use play therapy to assist youth in developing self-awareness, self-esteem, and relational skills. For teens, sessions are more talk therapy centered but I also include interactive activities to aid in the therapeutic process.

What is a therapy appointment like? What will we do?

During the first few sessions together, my primary focus is to build trust as well as identify goals for our work together. I love to have fun in session! With both children and teens this often looks like playing games, creating art, using humor to build rapport, and discussing client interests. My ultimate goal is to provide a fun, safe, and judgement-free space to support you in navigating the wild ride we call Life.
